Over the past few days we have been discussing whether or not you are ready to start your own MLM Blog and the 3 key components of your blog.
Today we will talk about keywords. You can visit my SEO page for information on doing keyword research.
Let's touch on how to use keywords in your blog. When you are first starting out, you should find 3 or 4 good keyword phrases to target. Eventually you will have dozens of keywords you are targeting, but a few will get you started. Every post or page you create should include at least one of these keywords, and be sure the post or page title includes that keyword.
Also, your keyword should appear in the first and last sentence of each post as well as in the body of your text. If your posts are longer, say 500 words or more, you will want to include your keywords 4 or 5 times. If they are short, like most of mine, at the beginning and end will suffice.
You do not want to have your keyword density to get higher than about 6%. Google "keyword density tool" and you will find several.
If you do your keyword research, post quality keyword specific content on a regular basis, and be persistent, it will pay off in the long run. In about a week I will be doing another series soon on backlinking that will focus more on how keywords work for you and how to tie them all together.
Thanks Bill. I have read lots on this topic and as someone fairly new to blogging it was all "rocket science" to me. This post and the associated links explain it in such a simple fashion I honestly think I finally understand it. Hope you don't mind but have syndicated this post all over for you. Regards - Richie
ReplyDeleteRitchie, you are right about Bill's post on blogs. Simple and to the point. It certainly has reinforced what my mentor has been saying.
ReplyDeleteThank you both for your comments. I could go on for ever if I didn't cut myself off. That's why I do a lot of these series of posts like this so each one won't be so long.
