Video marketing is great for SEO and has the ability to go viral more easily than plain text, but you can use it for so much more.
Video can be priceless for branding purposes.
Let me explain. I'm sure you have heard it said (or said yourself) something similar to, "I can remember faces, but names are harder to remember". Why is this? The answer is simple. Going back to the concept of repeated or prolonged exposure helping people remember things, apply that here.
When you meet someone once, and have say a 5 minute conversation with them, what happens there? You typically hear their names once, at the beginning of the conversation, but you are looking at them the entire time. The brain has time to take in the facial features and commit them to memory, but the name, having only been said once, has less of a chance to stick in your memory.
Using the person's name a few times during that conversation will help you remember it better.
Can you see how this can make video a great tool for branding yourself?
Doing short videos, say under a minute, with you in front of the camera can work wonders. Little videos, especially personal ones, can make a big difference.
Try making a 15 to 20 second video to send to a new friend on Facebook. You could just do one standard one to share with all your new friends, or do a personalized one for everyone, whatever your schedule and comfort level will allow.
Remember, personal branding is about getting people to remember you. Stay engaged in every way possible.
