This question was posed to me in a group discussion at IMFacePlate.com. While discussing the differences between Network Marketing and internet Marketing, a friend of mine asked me why I chose MLM, especially considering that I had done internet Marketing for a couple years prior.
The answer is simple. Network Marketing is the best way to generate residual income that will pay you for life. With the same amount of effort it takes to make a handful of affiliate sales, which will pay you once, you could sponsor someone new into your business and make money from it for life.
Allow me to illustrate this further.
Imagine yourself as a world renowned plastic surgeon. You get paid very well for performing your duties. The only drawback is, if you want to get paid again, you have to do another surgery.
Now imagine you are a famous author. You write a book ONCE, and the royalty checks continue to come in for years, maybe even the rest of your life.
The best part about network marketing though is the relationships you build. Yes, it's nice to start making some extra money, but the rewards are greater when you start to see those you are helping start to make more money. This is why I hope to help 10 people become full time network marketers this year. A lofty goal I admit, but what a wonderful thing it would be.
