Big MLM Tip of the Day: Time Management - Real Time Killers

Some things just cannot be avoided. Most all of us still have a full time JOB (Just Over Broke) when we start out.

Most of us have families as well. While family can be a big motivator, we should not neglect our duties to them while we build our business.

These are parts of our lives that we must work with.

The hope is to eventually work yourself out of that JOB. When we talk about time killers, these areas of your life are not among them.

Real time killers are things we do repeatedly that take up our valuable time. Sure, you need a mental break now and then, but how often you take one makes a difference.

For example, I have been known to have a solitaire game open that I'll click over to from time to time. Other things like regularly flipping tabs to check your email, Facebook or other sites can eat up a lot of time over the course of a day.

I have had to train myself to not have so many browser tabs open. I would often have upwards of 20 tabs open at a time. If I got off task, there is no telling how long it would be before I got back to the tab I was on.

If you only have 2 or 3 hours a day to work your business, can you really afford to waste any of it?

  2. Time (Life) management is a constant challenge for all of us. One of the best things about network marketing is the potential to leverage other peoples' time.

You probably think I mean your downline's time. That is the long range goal and can eventualy produce a nice semi-passive residual income. I have enjoyed a full-time passive residual income for the past year-and-a-half as a result of eighteen months of part-time work I did in 2008-2009.

But when you begin it is wise to leverage your upline's time and talent and knowledge and experience -- especially if you are working the business part-time!

Your upline is paid to support you. They only need your help to invite prospects and thus expand their sphere of influence. They (we) can take it from there and present the opportunity and products and answer questions. You can have millionaires working for you and paid by the company to help you make money.

The longer you remain in "inviter mode," the more money you will make. Later, as the upline, you will naturally move into presenter mode. Then, later, hopefully you will turn over the support to downline leaders. It is a wonderful win-win system.

  3. Bill,

Very true. I find often that I need to close down my browser to work on a tab for FB because there is always a notification to follow and it can really take time away from getting a job 'done'.
