Big MLM Tip - Duplication is Vital

Duplication is what makes a network marketing busy work. If your efforts are not being duplicated, then you have little to no chance of making it in this industry.

This is why so many tactics can never work.

For example, buying leads will never duplicate. Even if you can afford to spend hundred, or even thousands, of dollars a month on leads, 90% or more of your team will not be able to afford that.

Also, do not be the one with all the answers. New distributors will start to think they can never do what you do if you appear to know everything there is to know about MLM. You should frequently refer them to your upline or a certain training audio, video or eBook chapter, even if you do know the answer. This is more easily duplicatable and will be less likely to overwhelm your distributors. They will be more likely to think something like, "Wow, I can do that".

Think about duplication in everything you do.

  1. Great post Bill. May I add, that not all distributors know how to market online either. It takes sometime to learn how to market online. That's why this post is a very educated post people need to know about. I have this one shared all around.

  2. You make a great point Tim. I know of people who have come into the Mentoring For Free system and did not even know how to copy/paste. SERIOUSLY! It's a process for us all. As a mentor, it is YOUR job to find out where your partner is in that process and tailor their training accordingly. This takes practice, but when you have tons of resources, all you have to do is point them in the right direction.

  4. Good stuff as always Bill! What's being taught has to be translated into usable information for those who are learning, that's for sure!

  5. Thank you Rex. I would add that it is important for those who are WILLING to learn.

  6. Excellent insight here Bill.

I like the mention of not being someone who knows all the answers, or presents themselves in that way.

It's intimidating enough to start your own business. Thinking you have to know it all like your sponsor can make you quit early on. Present your own training materials but become familiar with your companies' back office training manuals. Refer your downline to other sensational training tools you find on the web.

Diversify your training to show that yes, you are learning too, and your downline CAN do what you're doing.

    Thanks for sharing!

  7. Great point Ryan. The learning process is an ongoing thing. My mentors, including ones who have been doing this a LONG time and have very large organizations, are still learning new things every day and then sharing that with their team.

  8. Bill,

You have identified the one most fundamental factor in making the network marketing dream come true. I agree, although I like to call it exponential multiplication, rather than duplication. Realistically, allowing a little flexibility for individual differences is actually more duplicable than trying to clone yourself exactly.

Unlike traditional "professions" (Doctor, lawyer, dentist, minister, teacher, etc.), the profession of network marketing depends more on what others do than on what you do. We are facilitators and catalysts. If your success revolves around what you do, you only have a JOB.

I have written several blog posts on this very subject. One post in particular addresses this issue: http://relatingonline.com/archives/465

  9. Good point Buddy. While a proven system is the best way to go, the beauty of this industry is the opportunity to be an individual. Any training used should be easily tailored to the personality and experience level of the person using it.
